5 Branding Reminders When Redesigning Your Logo

Need a logo refresh? Keep These Things in Mind

If you’ve answered yes to the question above, then it may be time for a logo reboot. To go about this, you can either tweak your existing logo or redesign it from scratch.

Tweaking your logo is much like doing a makeover. A designer works around design elements that are already in place and add a new message, update the colours, or freshen up the logo’s look and feel. A complete logo redesign is a more dramatic process. It can involve choosing a new colour palette or perhaps changing your company name.

Here are some branding reminders when working on a business logo design:

1. Get clear with your company values.

Your logo should communicate who you are and your companies believe. Proper blending design elements like photography, colours, and shapes are crucial in translating your values into an effective design.

List down your brand values, mission statement, and brand voice and let these inform every step of your design process (especially if you’re doing major rebranding). If you’re not sure how to go about this process, you might want to consider getting the expertise of a professional brand designer.

2. Use existing elements that are already working.

If you’ve decided to modify a few parts of your logo, evaluate your current branding and pick out things that are already great so you can incorporate them to your new design. To determine what’s working well for your brand, you can ask your loyal customers about what they like (and don’t like) about your logo.

3. Redefine your audience.

After a few years, your customer base may have changed. Or perhaps you’re looking at serving new customers. Before going ahead with your rebranding, you may need to re-identify your customers.

You can better understand your market by surveying purchasing customers and asking for more details about your customers when they buy from you online. Then use this information to create a logo that appeals to them.

4. Keep it simple.

When it comes to logos, the simplest ones are the most effective. Try to keep your new logo as simple as possible. Avoid overwhelming your audience with excessive colours and imagery and choose only the most essential elements that speak for your brand.

The simpler the logo, the more versatile it is, and the easier it is to print on customised products and display on digital platforms. Check out these logo design inspirations to get your creative juices flowing.

One thing’s for sure, don’t rush into it! Invest time and energy in the logo design process. We believe that the more time and effort you put into anything, it will always turn out to be how you want it to be. You might not get it right the first time, and we get it.

Our team of professionals has been around in the branding industry for years, and we understand all the aspects involved in logo redesigning. If you do need help, let’s talk about it over coffee!
